Why AL-KO deliberately favours 18 V and 36 V
Lots of volts = lots of power? Sounds nice, but it's not true. The power of your garden tool is neither described by the volt rating nor the ampere hours alone. Volts are merely a measure of voltage. The watt hours are much more important. This is because watt hours (Wh), the multiplication of voltage and capacity (volts x ampere hours), describe the energy content and therefore the operating time until recharging.
Higher voltages (higher voltage) therefore do not mean greater benefits - on the contrary: they can only be achieved by using more battery cells in the battery and are therefore inevitably associated with greater weight, a larger, bulkier housing and significantly higher costs.
